Free spin hubs on a Dana 30
Anyone have an alternative to the Yukon free spin locking hub conversion kit for the Dana 30? Wondering if there is another axle out there that I can pull parts off of to make the hubs free spin. Don't feel like spending $1300 on the kit

yeah spend $1300 to save on gas
spend as little as you can on your D30. buy used parts, keep it cheap keep it simple. you will always lose your investment on this axle
if you plan on doing more than gears, lockers, full circle snap rings/spicers, and t-link steering, you're better off building a different axle straight from the start

I have been throwing the idea around more and more lately on lock out hubs, I'm used to them in my 79 chevy, plus the something breaks fix it at home or even easier if it just the hub. I recently found a dana 44 if I'm correct and a 60 off a 80 4x4 ford bus with leafs all around. But do I really need something that big prob not but for the price too I can't really pass is up either.

The Milemarker kit is worth it if you never intend to go over 35s. Use the Warn hubs (IIRC, part number 37780) with the Milemarker kit and you can run 35s with no issues (the hubs from MM are not as strong as the Warn 37780). The Milemarker kit also has alloy outers. Confirmed by Milemarker engineering dept multiple times.

what about the cj d30's. they have locking hubs. i have never heard of anyone using them yet... so that means, they probably won't work.
