1994 Jeep XJ 4.5 RE lift. Short Arm

I am in the process of installing frame stiffeners on my jeep. I realized that once I do that and re-bolt on the cross member it will be 3/16” (the thickness of the stiffener) lower than is was before due to the frame stiffeners.

Will that hat affect my transmission or SYE or anything else?

not enough to matter unless you were on the bare edge of vibes before

There is a possibility that the studs could be too short and need to be replaced with longer ones. As far as the trans or SYE, no concerns there. It will essentially act as a 3/16" t-case drop. It would actually aid in covering up any potential vibes (if you didn't have an SYE).

Well, not so true......it might aid in covering up vibes from the rear axle, but it would actually make the vibes from a front axle worse, as the angle for the front axle gets steeper with a tcase drop, while the rear angle gets shallower (less).

But aren't vibes usually related to the rear slip-yoke driveshaft?

Usually , yes, but not always. You can also induce vibes on the front by making the angle too extreme.

I did a home made tcase drop on my old ramcharger, and when I 1st did it, I had vibes @ the front driveshaft trying to start. Granted, most of it was likely the D/S being old and worn out.

Put a new driveshaft in when I did the cardan joint rear shaft on it, and no more vibes.
