Im currently building a motor for a 76 ford and have been thinking it would be cool to do one in a jeep.
These can be 220 250 hp fairly easy with cam intake and 4barrel carb. I lucked out and went a step farther and did chevy valves and ported the head.
I likly wont ever see the 250horse because its just nonot in me to rev a 6. Ive cammed and fabbed an intake to get as much from the lower rpms as possible. Lots of research in head porting to hopefully grind what needed grinded and leave what should stay to promote low rpm port velocity.
The motor paired with the np435 trans should make a grunty trail rig. I hope.
Getting ready to find out.
Lots to do still. Drop in truck fab throttle cable bracket. Break cam in then fab exhaust. Itl get a spintech dual 2.5 in 3" or maybe leave it as pictured.
this truck has almost had its axles stoßen to toss in the xj soooo many times
This 300 is taking the place of a sick v8 that stock doesnt make much power.
Nice engine.. Years ago I had a company truck .. An F250 with the 300/stickshift and those engines were great.. We got over 300,000 out of the two "twins" the company had ordered and they outlasted many other brands bought around the same time..All kinds of torque and great gas mileage too.. I'm sure you'll be happy with what you've done there...
Bolted to the transmission have to move motor mounts forward and massage fire wall with a sledge hammer. The 4.0 valve cover is nearly the same length as the 300 valve cover . I keep meaning to measure nose to transfercsse output on both but i never remember. If i like how this runs ill look closer into it
