I am deciding on what kind of flares I should get for my 98 xj 2 door. I like the bushwackers pop out flare style but $500 bucks is pricey so I'm see what you guys recommend or suggest, now remember mines a 2 door and it seems the more research I'm doing the more expensive for the 2 door model let me know what you guys have come across

I currently have the flat style bushwackers and have had them for a about a year. As far as the looks and keeping dirt/mud down they are good. But in terms of being able to take a slam I have my doubts with these. Part of me wishes I got some metal flairs so I don't have to stress about ripping my flairs off when I hit the trail.

 

Exactly what he said. I really like the look of my bushwackers but am always afraid of tearing them off. Saving for steel flares.

 

My vote is for the Napier Precision flares, I have them on my 2 door. They aren't as wide as the Bushwacker's and they follow the body lines much better.

 

could go my route, TJ flares that are zip tied on so when you hit a trail they are easy to take off and put back on,

Also it appears that you do already have trimmed fenders so you have to make sure the flares you get will work with where you trimmed
although it looks like you did the average amount of trimming so you should be fine

 

I have the bushwhacker flat flares as well. I really like the look, and they seem sturdy enough, but the day after I installed them I saw a JK with one crushed. Didn't do much for confidence...
Seeing that you've already trimmed, I don't think the flats would work for you as they require a couple of the factory holes to be intact. The cut out flares may be different though.
Check out the **** tube flares if you want tough, Rusty's if you want inexpensive, or just roll with what you have. I think it looks pretty good flareless.

I do an average amount of off-roading so tough is what I'm concerned with, and thanks it doesn't look that bad flare less probably my main reason of getting the flares is to allow me to see out of my windows again, rain and snow and salt in Chicago make it impossible to see out of and I really like the way the look to

My 98' is flare less right now. Look fine, but EVERY puddle of water on the road SUX, cause it flips it up on the windshield. I do like the big chunks of snow flying up into view.
I not going to spend much on flares. Most likely just goin to use some stock flares. Old xj flares look better to me than the newer ones. I was thinking of making a spacer out of some trex ( plastic wood ) to make them more predominant
Personally I think Aftermarket flares cost way to much

 

I totally agree on the price for aftermarket flares there way over priced but I personably think they look good

It's currently at 4" with the long arm upgrade from Serious. The tires are 33x12.50 GY Wrangler MT/R Kevlar.

 

You are right. The Bushwackers are ridiculously expensive. But make sure you shop around for everything. I ended up getting the flat flares for about $300, still too much IMO. It took me months to finally bite the bullet and order them.
