Fitting a three point seatbelt in the middle rear of a Cherokee
Hi there.
I have a 1998 Cherokee, and a third baby on the way.
I'm trying to figure out a way to get three kids belted up in the back of the Jeep, all with three point belts. Currently, the middle seat only has a lap belt.
My garage tech tells me it's perfectly possible, but asked me to get the parts myself.
I'm living out in Dubai, and there's no good parts shops here for something like this, so am wondering if anyone can advise me of a store that might sell online and ship out here.
Cheers,
Nick

Doesn't seem too far out of reach, where are you thinking of attaching the top anchor?
Also, you can prolly just salvage parts from a junkyard. Not sure of the legality of this either so do some research

Mount the retractor on either a wheel arch, or the floor of the boot, and use the existing lugs for the end bracket and buckle.
Have e-mailed Securon in the UK who are a specialist seat belt manufacturer to see if they have anything available for a Cherokee.
Having said that, it now looks like I can't fit three kids across the back of a Cherokee, so may well sell it and buy a mate's Grand Cherokee, which is a little wider.

I know this post is six months old by now and you have most likely found a solution that works for you and your family but, this may help someone else too. The Diono Radian carseats are the most narrow (16" across) and fit nicely in our cherokee sport. We have two Radians (one forward facing outboard and one in the center) and a high back booster for our oldest and they fit from birth through booster and are made out of steel. We didn't want to get rid of our beloved jeep (that is also long paid off) and this solution thrilled is boy one words. I hoe this helps whoever reads this.
