Worse than I anticipated, truck lites it is.

FCKlightbars flush mount pods. $68 each/ $136 a set.
very bright. but not blinding (been passed by cops dozens of times) 30 watts (still technically legal for on road use) 2500 lumens. theyre hooked into my dims, the other pods on the bumper are hooked into the highs. simple mounting. welded a piece of 20 gauge over the stock headlight ring then cut out a 3"x3" hole for the light and drilled holes and bolted them in. theyre powdercoated Dixie Chopper textured black now so they dont stick out as much.

IMO pretty cheap and very easy LED headlight fix.

That price is just for the projector housings. That doesn't include bulbs, ballasts and harness.

Even if yours meet the same specs, if they haven't received DOT certification, they aren't DOT approved.

Those Starr HIDs are allegedly DOT approved and come with a DOT certificate, which is why that kit is priced at $1000. Of course, they could be BSing us, but they say they went through the DOT approval process. If you think about it, with as many vehicles as there are that use 5x7 headlights, it would make sense for SOMEONE to have gotten an aftermarket HID set DOT approved.

I was just messing around but my point is the only difference between those and mine is the stamp and the fact there ugly. Guess I'll just get some TLs and switch the front coves with mine. Instant DOT approval. Problem solved.

All this DOT talk, has anyone on the CF ACTUALLY gotten a ticket or failed inspections due to "non-dot cert" lights? Just curious. FL lets us register race cars and monster trucks (basically...), Merica'.

I'll just leave this here. FMVSS and NHTSA takes precedence over all, but state law varies state to state. There is a lot of reading here, but good if you're hungry for knowledge. Bottom line? Check your local code and requirements, folks...

Taken directly from the page:

Is “DOT-approved” a legal term?
No, NHTSA has no authority to "approve" or "disapprove" vehicle equipment. The equipment is self-certified. Sometimes the term is confused with the DOT symbol, which is required to be placed by the manufacturer on certain items of equipment such as headlamps. This is simply an affirmative statement by the manufacturer that the equipment is compliant with an applicable NHTSA rule.

Well I finally received and installed my " Black Mamba" lights a few weeks ago. I dont know if they are the same as the ones on ebay or not but they look like it.

Construction on mine seems great! Nice and solid all the way around. All the bulbs light up when they are supposed to, glass seems pretty sturdy and I didn't crack anything on install. No condensation or anything inside and it has been raining/snowing here for a week straight.

They are super bright... I mean really bright. By far the most light that has ever been emanated by my XJ. The first time I took them down the mountain on the tight dirt road from my house, I got flashed by the only car I passed. I then corrected their aim and have not been flashed since. I have probably passed 500 cars without being flashed. Its worth nothing I pulled up behind a cop, bumper at his glass level and he did nothing. The color is nice and white and i can see way better all the way around. The only exception to this is during a blizzard or heavy fog. Glare is horrendous partially due to the whiteness but also due to the lack of a clear cutoff. If it wasn't for my bright/Amber fogs in those situations, I wouldn't be able to see.

They are ugly but its grown on me and they look pretty cool when they are on.

All in all, I like the lights. I was extremely nervous about the scenario that happened (read above) but if they last, the lights themselves are great!

That being said, I would not recommend buying anything from Black Mamba ever. It took well over a month, the guy doesn't respond to anything untill threatened, warranty would probably never happen and it LOOKS likely that you can buy the exact same thing on Ebay for much less.

Glad to hear you finally got your lights. I ended up with the truck-lites which I'm mostly happy with. I honestly expected a bit more for the money. Still would have liked to try the mambas and saved 100 bucks but after your story I decided it wasn't worth the hassle.

Truck lite does make headlights with a defroster in them now,The bad they are only the round ones for now but give them time we will see it on all lights.

That's not what bothers me about the truck-lites. What I really don't like, and may cause me to sell them off for something else, is all the artifacts and shadows that can be seen in the light output. While driving down the road with the jeep bouncing around, the shadows "dance" around the road and are fairly distracting.

So, after much consideration, now that this topic has popped up again, I went with the DOT Rigid LEDs, which I will run with the halogen headlights instead of replacing them. For the price, ~$265, it was the best option. They're going on Friday and I'll post up some pictures later that night.

Here you go guys, I did the ground work. Now someone order a shipment from china and start selling these. Sign me up for 4

http://topreal.en.alibaba.com/produc...headlight.html

(The round ones obviously)

Finally, the PERFECT L.E.D. Headlights for Cherokee XJ's!!-vsy7pvd.png

so 26usd per light from that supplier (there is like 20 different suppliers in china) Black mamba is a sham claiming they make these, they likely just order in batches from chinese suppliers.

some other offers for the same light http://pdtechnology.en.alibaba.com/p...aled_beam.html

http://pdtechnology.en.alibaba.com/p..._for_JEEP.html

There is two versions, a 45 watt version and a 54 watt version (many sites are mislabeling these as 55watts and using random lumen ratings.)

PD7Sl-54w
PD7SL-45w

are the two part numbers
