Default fabricating lower control arms

hey guys, im interested in possibly fabricating lower control arms for my 2000 xj with 3" lift. has anyone done this? plans? advise? dimensions? anything would be helpful. if i need to i will cough up $100 bucks and just buy them but i thought id consult the all-knowing XJ forum before i did anything.

No real need for a 3in lift. Ran that lift for 4 years on stock control arms. They hold up great and still tuck the axle in great.

I would wait till you go past 3in.

No the lift didnt come with lowers. i have limited funds i decided to upgrade from an add-a-leaf to a full leaf pack thus sacrificing the lower control arms.

thanks for the insight, i will leave my stock, lowers on for now.

OEM XJ arms are weak stamped pieces. You can always swap in some wj arms that are much more sturdier and even have a slight bend inward for tire clearance. You should be able to pick them up at jy for cheap or on a forum.

I think that they're either the same length or about 1/4" longer so no real addition in that area but you're gaining piece of mind when offroading.

Its a good point. If u wanna go that route. I would recommend new bushings if u do. I am just saying at 3in i wouldnt stress too much on them.
