Default F150 coils?

I'm sure this has been asked a million times but I have done some research and can't dig up too much on it. So I will ask the experts.
I am planning on getting a little more lift out of my jeep and the front is sagging just a bit. I am currently running the RC 2" lift. It has add-a-leafs in the rear and coils in the front, with all four shocks.
I have heard about F150 coils in the front but i have a few questions.
1. Will they fit right in where the stock coils do or do you have to modify?
2. How much lift will they give me?
I'm not worried about the ride. It's a Jeep, it rides rough. If you don't like it don't ride in it.
Also I am adding a 12K badlands harbor freight winch and a custom winch bumper. And I know this is going to weigh the front down a little more. If the coils end up bringing the front up too much i could always shackle/block the back. The rear is easy to match.

Thanks,
Dustin

I can only repeat what I have heard...

The spring rate on the F150 coils are extreme... even for a bumper, armor and winch.
Lift is 4"-4.5"
The coil is slightly shorter than the stock springs but much... MUCH stiffer.
The coils you need are out of 70's bronco or F150 trucks.

The F150 coils will ride much much stiffer and will not flex nearly as well as springs designed for your XJ.

just my opinion on this.

as said above. they are really stiff.

4-5" coils can be purchased NEW for around 100, and they will flex and ride MUCH better

hi , i also used the f-150 springs , as i changed the engine of my xj , now i have a 2.5tdi which is a lot heavier than stock and the front axle was banging the engine every time i took a hole so i decided to use the coils , and add a 2" coil spacers and my jeep has now 4 inches lift , that would give you the idea of how much tall your jeep would look with this springs , also what the guys says about the stiffness is true , when on road i have to use 25psi on tires to get it smoother, if you are out of money thats a great choice of lift but if they are in your budget buy the coils made for jeep they will give you smoother ride...

I don't believe I've seen particular years. If you are going to buy new springs I agree it might be better to go with some aftermarket lift springs. I know that isn't what you were asking though.

Assuming you're lifting the XJ to use it offroad and not knowing what kind of terrain you might be considering, F150 coils still don't seem like a wise choice. You might not be concerned about ride quality, but those rear wheels will leave the ground a lot quicker in off camber terrain because (like someone said before) the front just won't flex like it would with softer springs.

You might want to think this thru some more ...

Spend the money on the correct springs. I have the f150 coils in my jeep with 3in spacers becuase i was impatient and its an offroad only jeep. Well it doesnt flex well and rides really rough, but i have been running it for almost a year and its still getting me buy but for the extra 50 bucks get a set of xj coils

I think its 1979 or older are the coils you could use.In 1980 they changed to the twin beam 4x4 and the f350 went to leafs in the front.

This is a noob tech site basically.
Dropping a $100 or so on stock ford coils you might as well for a extra $30 or so just get the correct coils.
Unless you want your XJ to ride like a unloaded dump truck and flex light a Peter Built.

you could also buy some coil spacers you can find from 1 to 3 inches on ebay that only costs 35 us the pair , its a lot more affordable and you could keep your oem springs, id rather do that than use the F-150 coils couse as the other guys said and as my own experience they are really stiff.
