Does anyone know if F-150 leaf springs are the right size for me to make a bastard pack?

No I don't think they would work. First of all they would be way too stiff for how light an xj is. Second I think they are too wide. You need a leaf spring that is 2 1/2" wide. Dodge Dakota, Chevy s10, or Chevy Blazers the small ones are what you are looking for.
