for those of us that dont know what extended idle means.
it is for turning up the idle of your engine to run the water pump, mechanical fan, and alternator a little faster for things such as sitting for extended periods of time and when ur winching or using ur lights.



i recently discovered how to make almost anyjeep extended idle. forgive me if its against the rules to post a link to another forum but im sure many of us our curious how to add this feature to our jeeps.

extended idle brings the rpm up to roughly 1000 rpm. and only work in neutral and park

to sum it up connect your A12 pin on the computer to ground and it will activate extended idle but read this article and follow instructions carefully. cause this does not work on all years of the cherokee.

i just went out there in the pitch black with a flashlight to hotwire my ecm to try this and it didnt work on my 96 sport and my a 12 was a blue wire with an orange stripe. i heard it was supposed to be gray

 

i wonder if there is a way to do this on non police prep models. cause my nextstep to get this feature is to re wire the cruise control and add my own programmable brain to it lol
