Alright so my buddy was doing me a huge favor and putting in my Spacers and shackles while i was out of town on a family issue. Well i just got a phone call saying that he had the rear done and had to undo it back to how i had it because the brake line was stretched to maximum. and my driveshaft wouldnt not catch on the transfer case?????

So my questions are....

*What brake lines can i pull out of a junkyard to to extend my front and rear? I remember reading a thread that had them posted but cant find it for the life of me!!!

*Next how do i fix the driveshaft issue (on a budget) like whats the easiest/cheapest/fuctional way to do this? Mind you my xj is my daily driver and i cant have it just sitting around.

I dont know if this will help to answer my questions but what i have done to my jeep suspension and tire wise is as follows:

*3 inch rustys AAL(which i now regret, should've went with the pack)
*Rustys Adjustable LCA's, and LCA HD Mounts
*33's x 12.50's

What im trying to add is:
*RC Adjustable Trac-Bar and Mount
*1.75 Spacers Front
*2 inch Shackles Rear

the front driveshaft from an XJ will fix your rear end. I cant remember off the top of my head as far as brake lines, but im sure someone will post it up on here for ya

 

it's from an AUTO XJ front and he will also need a fixed yoke SYE kit for that to be an option

 

well honestly AAL is NOT a problem as long as your rear leafs are in perfect shape

think about it this way...

if you stock leafs are sagging 1" lower than stock, then your AAL will sag that much too, that and your AAL will then wear out faster...

 

you COULD get your DS extended, but in reality if I am reading this right you are now at 5" lift in the rear? You will more likely than not need an SYE anyway, this will solve the vibes you will probably get and the DS length issue.

 

^ worth noting but come on now... it's HIGHLY unlikely he'll be able to source one from a 5 speed.

Having said that, if you could source a 5-speed model rear shaft, they're longer. You can source a drop bracket for the rear line. I'm still using my stock line with a drop bracket on the rear and I sit at 4.5" and never pull on my brake line.

 

Not to pirate the thread, but I have a related question about driveshafts.

I've been running a stock front DS/SYE on the rear at about 5 inches of lift with no problems. I went with different leafs and shackles and it moved my axle back to where my DS is maxed out on length.

I read that front shafts from grand cherokees are 2 inches longer? Is this true?

 

its true that ZJ shafts are longer

 

Im in a stick and its not long enough so why would I want another one? Just sayin... How do I lengthen my current drive shaft ?

 

Alright so i got the brake lines issue figured out... Still needing help on how to extend my drive shaft or if there is one that is an inch or so longer that stock xj five speed rear driveshaft. And also if i get a transfer case drop will that help my issue a little bit?? And i could maybe put off the sye kit for a little bit? I just dont have the fund-age for it right now.

 

sorry to hijackish your thread but right now im at 3 inch lift and want to go up an inch or two. what all did you have to replace to go up the two extra inches. Also i think that a t-case drop would help you.

 

Tcase drop should help buy a Sye is the better route. Try and look up the hack and tap method.

Dakota rear brake lines for the rear, too.

So does anyone know how to extend a driveshaft or if there is one that is bout two inches longer that will work. Im totally lost on this guys. And i cant put in the rest of my lift till i figure it out!!!

 

Cheaper way of doing a Sye.

I have a chart of DS lengths. Measure yours and post the length you need.
