Default Ever seen gear oil drip from here?

I came out from work today and saw this under the jeep. It's dripping from the unibody right next to where the e brake cable assembly splits into two cables on the drivers.

There is none anywhere before there under the jeep. But there are what looks like drips being slung around from there back. On top of the diff and on gas tank skid. But the pinion seal isn't leaking on the axle. Can't find any leaks, drips, or otherwise. Except from that hole in the unibody.

Another note. I changed diffs gear oil recently and what's dripping is fresh yellow oil. Has to be coming from there I would think.

Brakes are still as stiff and responsive as ever.

and its much much thicker than brake fluid, i have the tow package so i run 85 140 its super thick stuff. and has that distinctive gear oil smell. YUCK

Doesn't mean that you dont have a small leak and getting low on brake fluid. Your leak look as if it is towards the rear, most of your braking power is in the front, so you would not likely noticea differance until you run out of brake fluid and then have no brakes at all.

i agree me dripping gear oil does not mean i may not have a brake fluid leak, but the viscosity is all wrong. this stuff is thicker than molasses. if my memory serves me brake fluid is much more fluid like.

True, well that's an odd place to have thick fluid leaking! Did you spill something inside the jeep? if you did I would think you be able to smell it though.

Everyone is wrong.

The breather hose runs up to the "frame" part a little farther back and will come out of that if you over fill the rear diff. It will leak though the frame and out that hole. I know because it happens to me when I get a little carried away with the squeezing.

just pop the rubber plug out of the rear diff & let it drain until it stops, it must be over filled. i over filled a man. tranny once & it blew all out the tube.

either you overfilled the diff, or something is getting really hot in there (or both)

Because it already corrected itself by going out the vent tube and douching the underside of your Jeep.
