2 things: 1st, My ex-father in law owns a machine shop. So the engine work, with his help cost next to nothing. (Cost of beer which was prolly just as much as the machine work). I would say for 2000 - 2500 bucks you could build an engine that would last forever with good maintenance. 2nd thing, save money for things you simply cannot do yourself. Here is a picture of an intake I made for less than 5 bucks (besides the cost of the filter) Its an exhaust adapter with some pipe for the hose connections.
