Engine swap preferences
Have to agree with the GM LS swap or stroker.
Or you could just go all out and do an LS V12.

I know, i don't believe they fit in a fox mustang without mods to the shock towers in the front.

5.3 swap all the way!!! more HP than a stroker in stock form. more reliable than a stroker. can be run on 87 octane easy. more mpg. 60 lbs lighter,
i went between stroker and 5.3l swap for a long time but in the long run i know id be happier with the gm v8 thats still being produced.

Been down this road before...
I did the whole stroker thing....never again.
My stock 5.3L puts out more power and cost a hell of a lot less than my stroker build.
And finally.....There's no replacement for displacement.

For the size of the mod motor you can have a 460 which makes a lot more power but weights a lot more. The easiest v8 swap will be a small block chevy or ls family anything else you gotta make everything on your own.
I'm an lsx fanboy for sure. however, since this is a jeep I'd opt for a gm atlas engine. I think it would make engine mounting, exhaust routing, and hood clearance non issues. yet still offer the same tune ability and nearly the same power as a 5.3.

I'm not 100% but I think a AMC 360 bolts right up to the jeep transmission. U could build a torque 360 for the price of getting the Chevy motor and granny and transfer case and new driveshafts. But I might be incorrect but I have read in a couple places that it will bolt up.
