Default Electric cooling fan

Ok so on my 89 cherokee I wanna add an electric cooling fan and ditch the machanical one. I also want to take out the ac compressor and add a dummy wheel. I know the other fan that comes in the jeep comes on when the ac is on, I wanna get another factor electric fan just like the one that comes with the jeep and wire them together to the fan controller I'm gonna buy so they turn on together. Will two of the factory fans running together work enough to cool the car? Or will I have to get a after market fan. I just figured there was spots or another factor looking electric fan why not try.

I can't say I have much advice on replacing the mechanical fan but for the AC compressor you'd want an AC compressor bypass. I just did this on my 95 XJ with a 4.0L.

http://www.pepboys.com/product/detai...36/?quantity=1

Pepboys was the only place I could find the bypass pulley for a reasonable price although they charged me double of what it's listed for on the site since I ordered mine in store (still cheaper than they were other places). I complained but they said it was listed wrong on the site.

Anyway, the bypass I linked above says it only works on a 96 but it worked fine on my 95. I do know that 94-96 used the same AC setup (maybe even 91-96) so I'm not sure if this will work on your 89 but if you can't come up with any other options this might be worth a try. Pepboys said I could return it if it didn't work. If you order it in store be sure to pull the SKU (287719) as they couldn't find it in their computer by name.

No, they do not move enough air for that. An all-electric setup would be with the ultra high-flow Ford Taurus fans and three-fan kits like Dirtbound Offroad. You'll find mention of both approaches on here with a search for those names.

Yes. The stock electric fan is remarkably gutless.

Grand Cherokee fan clutch and newer style xj aux fan upgrades pull all the air you gonna need.

I think its 97 and up replace your factory aux fan just cut the plug off old fan and connect to newer xj style fan wiring. Don't cut truck harness. Then how you make it runs your option.Replace old style exactly.
