That one add a leaf is going to be some rugged and force your springs up. Making for one horrendous ride more than likely. All the big lift companies have budget lifts for cheap. I would look for one that uses shackles, better ride. Other options include a bastard pack. I would lift it and see if you even need to drop the tc. If you do you can make a tc lowering kit at any decent hardware store way cheaper than you can buy one.

For $40 more you can get all four shocks, coil springs, and aals, which is a 3" lift.

I would rather get shackles the AAL, however using the stock leafs aren't a great option in either setup, and they can still sag....
this kit is better IMO and cheaper...

Also a good option if you feel like DIY.

I thought the bastard pack was essentially the same as the AAL except you take the leaf from an Explorer or something?

It was my understanding that 2" was as high as you can go without changing brake lines, driveshaft, lower TC, etc etc. Basically, I thought 2" was as high as you could go without changing a lot of other things. Is that not true?

Are you talking about a similar lift on eBay or something else for the extra $40?

Thanks, I've seen that write up before. I don't know that I want to go the shackle route. From what I've read it can warp your leafs.

So maybe what I need to do is get new leaf springs and coil spacers. Cheap but will also last?

Gorilla - other than having the shackles, what makes this set better?

i bought the same exact lift for my first jeep only difference was i had 3"spacer/AAl. front end in my opinion wasnt too bad even with stock shocks. but the rear was horrible felt like a very quick return when going over a bump

IMO AAL's are junk. so shackles are better. shackles don't sag, cause a rough ride, or get thrown away when you bite the bullet and but new leafs.

Ya but shackles scrape the floor if you are actually wheeling....i ditched mine within a week and used aal..... No matter what it should be a temporary thing... Or just make a full bastard pack and be cheaper.... and no you dont need a TC drop with 3 in...well depends if you got older or newer jeep...newer jeeps tend to have the vibes more if my memory is right....
