Durango Steering Box
I recently swapped my stock 96 steering box for one out of a 98 4x4 non plow V8 Durango. The reason for swapping was that my XJ box was about shot and had a lot of play at the wheel, well, the Durango box has about the same amount of play. I have tightened down the adjustment SOME and it seemed to make a little difference, but I've read on here that overtightening can strip out the gears inside the assembly. Is it likely that the box out of the Durango is shot/worn just like my XJ box was? Any thoughts please feel free to let me know! Thanks guys

If you tighten the adjustment too much the steering will not self center after making a turn, it will feel worse than a worn out box. I have never seen or felt a steering box actually work better after it was adjusted, it only wears the sector shaft faster.
