Default Duango leaf springs

I am looking at putting a set of longer leaf springs under the rear my 87 XJ.
I have been thinking of using Durango rear leaf set. MY stock springs eye to eye is 50" the Durango is 53". However the catch is I don't want to move the rear axle back ro far to interfere with gas tank. I am unsure of the offset on the Durango pack. Of course a bastard has been done. But any one bolt any other packs directly in place? I'm not looking to go extreme like 63" Chevy packs.

i put a set under a friends jeep once.

they bolted in. and simply rode horrible and didnt flex worth anything. They might work alright if you worked with the shackle angle and had a heavier back end.

I was reading on this thread and wanted to know more.

1. Did you use all 5 leaves?
2. How was the shackle anle?
3. Are they 3" longer?
4. Did they center the axle in the wheel well?

it was so long ago i dont remember exactly, all i know is it didnt work well enough for me to try it again.

iirc the axle was moved back maybe an inch. still cleared the gas tank. may have not with an aftermarket cover or larger axle.
