Once you lock the front it is only a matter of time before you lock the rear. You will see go through stuff you would never try with open diffs and say "I wonder what I can do with the rear locked too." At least thats what happened to me.

I would venture to assume that they have less overheard and/or you aren't paying for the name... IIRC, Aussies were close to this same price point when they first came out
lets say you were to install a selectable locker in the front like an ox locker. with the amount of weight in the front of the vehicle from the engine along with most of the flex coming from the front. would you really need to install one in the rear? now I now ideally a selectable locker in the front and rear would be best that's not what im asking. but if you could only afford one wouldn't it be better up front?
Front, and a lunchbox is fine.
I think on some hills a rear locker is better.
But most of the time in my opinion the front is better to have.

Aussie locker in the front while on the trail in 4WD is loud as f*** and you can feel it in the steering wheel. That's not to say it's bad because it locks when you need it but in that grey area (i.e. doing a sharp turn on flat in 4WD) where there is moderate load but not enough to make it fully lock it makes A LOT of noise when it disengages/reengages. On the street in 2WD it's almost silent.

For a DD, selectable is the way to go in the rear, and lunchbox is fine for most people up front. Only problem I've been seeing is that the smaller axles like the d30 on larger tires start to develop play between the center pin and carrier, and this can cause cracking.
As for the front vs rear debate. everyone has there own opinion.... Mine is that 2 is better than 1

On a trail I don't think that's practical. You could be continually switching in/out of 4WD every 20 feet.
I wouldn't say I was knocking the Aussie since it does work as it should. I'm just saying at $250 you get the features you pay for. It is what it is. My buddy has a No-Slip and it's completely silent all the time, but it cost more than twice as much.

Sorry for threadjack. Could a lunchbox locker like Aussie or Spartan be used in a LP d30 axle and then taken out and installed in an Hp d30? I know once I detonate the axle I have I will be swapping in an Hp. I started driving the Jeep again and want to lock the front but if I cant reuse the locker in an Hp I will go hunt for an axle first (dont want to for now however).
