I mean I gotta stay as cheap as possible. I can't spend no $1000 on a lift because I will need new tires soon too. And I have to do something about my rear suspension. I am getting it all inspected by a mechanic next Tues. and if my suspension is shot i will have to replace it. Costs practically the same a stock parts to do an aftermarket lift and it should probably be done right the first time.

Where is a good place to buy 1.5 Rancho leafs and shackles. I might be doing that. In referencing my original post, I already have the stock spring and 2.25 in. spacer in the front. If all is well with my shocks and everything in the front then it is kind of a waste of money to blow $500+ on a complete new suspension system to ONLY GAIN .75 INCHES.
The back on the other hand is inverted and sitting on a block. If I can leave my front alone, I'm fine replacing the leafs with some lifted/better quality ones to get rid of the block. Even if I have to replace the shocks, i can afford it.
I think thats the verdict. Replace the leafs with shackles and lifted leafs. Forget my dreams of lifting a mere 3/4 inch and lift the crap out of my XJ when I am a rich doctor.

You DO NOT need $1000 dollars for a 3 in lift! The rough country kit is all you need. There is a 99% chance you do not need an sye on a 3in lift, if there is vibrations after lifting the smallest t-case drop will correct it on a 3 in lift. You also do not need lower control arms, yes it is better to get them if you can but 3 inches of lift will pull your tires back an almost unnoticeable amount. You most likely will not need a track bar either but after you get the lift you may choose to get one due to vibrations. A three inch lift is so small its basically unnoticeable on stock parts. I have been running the rough country kit with no control arms, no adjustable track bar, no sye or tcase drop for over a year. I have wheeled it through places I shouldn't have offroad and driven faster and wilder than i should have with it on road and I have never had a problem with it. You have my word that the RC lift is all you need Shocks, springs, leafs, and if your willing to spend the extra money lower control arms can never hurt. Forget all this you need an sye, adjustable track bar crap, You don't need any of that until you go around 4.5 in but if you feel you need it later you can always add it on. Take it from somebody that has the exact setup that you want, hope I was able to help you!

Well thats the kicker isn't it? Its all try and fail on these XJs. You put a lift on and pray for no vibes. Then you get vibes. Add the t-case drop. Still have vibes. Add control arms. Still have vibes. Add the track bar. Finally no vibes. Put the tire size you want on. Boom. You have vibes again. So no you don't HAVE to spend $1000 on a kit. But theres always the chance that you will end up spending that much.
I looked up you build thread. Your rig is pretty sweet! But it looks like you bought your XJ with the 3" already installed right? So the previous owner might have had to tweak it quite a bit to make it work for him.
I think I am just going to repair my rear leafs and God willing nothing else be broke and be done with it. Now if all my shocks are ruined, then I will just go the 3" lift route. But thats going to be a lot more expensive than just a OME leaf set.
ANOTHER QUESTION:
My front has that 2.25 spacer. The smallest Old Man Emu I can find is 2.75" Will that do? Will it sink enough to balance it out?

Whatever you do get new rear leafs, yours are scrap. No add-a-leaf or bastard packs for you. I would get new shocks as they are probably as good as the springs.
No exact experience, but I think the OME springs will be fine. You can always add and tweek as you go (arms, etc)
Weird how different these things can be. Son has RC 4 1/2, tc drop, no vibes, no problems.

Yes I did buy it with the lift but this isn't my first xj. My last one had a 3" RC as well that I put on. Same results as this one. There is a really slim chance you will get any vibes from a 3in lift. In fact I have never really even heard of it. Ive got a friend that also has the 3" RC lift just like me, we installed it for him about 3 years ago, he also runs no sway bars and has never had any problems or vibes. That being said yes every xj does its own thing but with a lift so small you don't have to worry about it much. And control arms don't really have anything to do with the vibes so you wouldn't have to worry about that too much. About your question, will the 2.75" spacer sink down to balance with what?

1st Question - WHAT TIRES DO YOU WANT TO GET ????
a) Rusty's makes some of the best springs from my reading.
b) If you plan on just getting some basic tires for now, I think take the blocks out and build some bastard pack springs for now, or keep an eye out for some good used ones.
Save your money for your college education, that is far more important.
