Yes, especially if you go fast. The bump stops are needed to preserve shocks and keep the tires from chewing up the fenders.

I made the mistake of not installing bumpstops after installing 31s and knocked all 4 fender flares off within an hour of mild wheeling. Definitely something I need to get before hitting the trails again.

Proper bump stops actually help with suspension articulation as well. Not to mention if your tires aren't chewing up your fenders when they bottom out, the fenders are chewing up your tires. I'm speaking from first hand experience here, i bought 35' procomp extreme terrains for one of my xj and the first time i went out on the trails i dug some fairly large grooves in them when my suspension was fully flexed with no bump stops. I learned the lesson the hard way, don't do the same.

yeah I have 32's on a 2" lift and have chewed my tires, gonna bumpstop it to keep it from getting into fenders, but get longer shocks so it can droop the suspension more

When I first got a 2" lift on my xj I hauled 4 bikes 6hrs away with 4 guys in the jeep. Didn't notice my passenger side rear bump stop had fallen off.

Broke a leaf spring on the way back from over inverting. Only the wheel well was stopping the tire.

Lesson learned.
