Default Differential Details D30/35

Considering that I will, at some point in the future, install lockers of some sort in my Danas 30/35, and that it's time to change my diff fluid, what should I look at, while the covers are off, that will help me determine the correct lockers for my application, such as number of splines, c-clip, etc?

Thank you

As far as splines you have 27 in both the 30 and 35. I know that there was a change over as far as the having C clips and non-c clips, but i'm not sure what year that was. In my 98 TJ I had a lock right in the back and that was it, and I never had any problems with it in the 35 with 33's and 3.07 gears. If you are looking to re-gear at some point you might as well get a full case locker like a Detroit or a selectable (ARB, OX, Eaton e-locker). This way you will only need to set up the gears once. In the 30 I would go selectable.

I'll likely keep an eye out for an 8.25 rear end, disc brake and TrueTrack it while I'm at it, but not likely to do that till next summer. I have a lot of projects going on right now. I would like to put a selectable in the front before the winter, though. Likely an E-locker. I admit my ignorance of differential internals. Should I look for c clips in the 30 when I take the cover off?
