Determining a few things before the upgrades begin.
Checking out which rear end my XJ is equipped with because l noticed its one of the questions on the life kit info. The rear appears to be a Dana 35 and the front a Dana 44. If l am incorrect please feel free to correct me. Also curious as to standard gears in these things. Mine is a ex government vehicle so it is equipped with a 3.55 sure grip. I am guessing most would be 2.76 or 3.23 peg leg geared. Thanks and this is a great sute wuth lots of good info.
Not according to the tag. If you look at the tag on the left side of your pic, the bill of materials number appears to be 610503-7. The Dana Expert site is down at the moment, but this list shows that as a Dana 30:
610503 JEEP 30 FRONT 1994 1/2-97 XJ NON-DISCONNECT, ABS
I can't read the BOM on the rear, but it's definitely a D35. You can also see on both tags that the gears are 3.55.
The "Axle Bill of Materials" link takes you to the search, but I linked the main page because there is other interesting stuff there. The BOM is basically Dana's product number.
And West Coast Differentials has a very good page showing how to identify axles and read tags from various manufacturers (including Dana):
