Default Delete comfort switch and use for second gear switch?

I would like to delete the Power-Comfort switch and install a second gear lock switch. I would like to bypass the Power-Comfort switch at the TCU by hooking the tan wire on C11 to the yellow power wire on D16. I then want to use the tan wire from the Power-Comfort switch to power Solenoid 2 at C15 to lock the Jeep in second when shifter is in 1-2 position. Is there an issue with my plan? Seems an elegant solution. I will install diodes where needed to prevent back feeding voltage to the TCU.

Bueller.....
Bueller.....

Anybody home? I can't be the first to think of this. Seems an easy solution. No new wires to run, just swap a couple around at the TCU. If no one can point out a fault with my plan, I'l give it a shot later this week.

Give it a whirl and let us know how it goes. What year is your XJ? OBDII will throw an engine (actually, transmission) code, but the next key cycle (with your switch off) will reset the trans control unit. Then the CE light will go away after 50 miles or something. I have a similar setup but I don't use it as often as I thought I would.

Mine is a 90. (91 was the last year for the power-comfort switch) No check engine light, at all. I've been taking mine down to the beach lately. Some of the dunes are steep, loose sand. I find second gear is ideal at about 3000 rpms.

A one way diode would fix the power feedback question.
