By shims, it's probably for the rear driveline angles.

okay so took my jeep to the jeep man in greenville.he told me death wobble because i have no adj controll arms and my shocks are four a 4in lift so i guess im going to take my coil spacers out in the front and the blocks out in the back guess the guy who sold me the jeep had no idea what he was doing. and run a 4in till i can afford long arm kit and 4 new shocks. does this sound like it will work. will i need adj control arms with 4in lift or will it be okay like that it has aftermarket lower control arms with bend in them is this enough?

From answers I have gotten on 4" lifts, you should only need extended lowers. But are we sure the death wobble is from that, and not something else?

i just went thru it with the one i bought, jack it up in the front tilt the wheel up and down feel for slack, inspect the ujoints both of mine were shot, replaced both, still had a lil wobble but much better around 45-50mph,took it had the all the tires rebalanced and a front end alignemet, drives like butter now at all speeds i'm more than happy had under $200 in it,junk tires not balanced in the front will make one shake like hell i've road in a few over the yrs, check your wheel bearings maybe repack them with grees i did that also
