Install kits, if not included with gears.
If you're looking for someone to install them, call AllPro Automotives. They are located in Lansing and do lots of work on local Jeeps and trucks. Ask for Ken (owner), and tell him OnlyInMyXJ22 (might not remember me ) from GreatLakes4x4.com sent you his way.

If it is the hd 44. might as well have passanger knuckle machined for hi-steer. ALso recommend going through ball joints and U-joints whil you have it down. Lastly inner and outer bearings on your spindles.

gears
carrier (or full bodied locker)
Install kit
new seals (if not included with install kit)
While its apart I would also replace (sounds like its a used/JY axle set with no history)
U-joints
Ball joints
wheel bearings
Pinion Yolk with U-bolts and not straps

Alright let me see if i got this straight. A locker is a new carrier, when purchasing you need to buy the locker with the right gear range accepted that you want? After you get the new carrier (locker) You just need a ring and pinion with install kit?

You can also get a "lunchbox" locker which replaces the spider gears in the carrier, This works very well and can take a good beating without problems, however they are not as strong as the full bodied locked shown above. Lunch box lockers look like this
Lower gears have a smaller pinion and to compensate the difference in size you have to move the ring gear closer to it which is why you need a new carrier. However there are other options. you can run a "think" gear which will make up the difference and allow the original carrier/lsd or w/e, they are just as strong.
But yes you are correct. you will need a locker with carrier brake 3.92+ for the D44, and a 4.56+ for the D60 IIRC. gears, and install kits.
