I just picked up a ford hp 44 out of a 79 bronco. Im gonna have to retube it because it has the cast wedges not the welded on ones. Im okay with this because I want it to be the same width as the stock 30 so I can shorten the new tubes before I have them installed. My question is does anyone make axles that are shortened or can I tube it to the length of a tj 44 and be able to use tj shafts with the carrier for the ford 44? Any help is appreciated. And please I don't want anyone telling me to sell it and get a different axle. I got this axle in a package deal with an 8.8. Im just weighing my options for now and I know what im getting into if I keep this axle. Thanks!

TJ shafts won't work unless you put D30 knuckles and outters on it. Several companies like Yukon and Superior will cut custom length shafts and most shops that would do a tube swap could also cut and respline a shaft for you. Some use a waggy passenger side shaft and the stock driver side.
