Default dana 44 drive shaft

is there any front drive shafts that will work for the rear for a dana 44 swap? id rather pay for a DS from the junk yard then pay the money to have my drive shaft shortened.....

thanks

Just found another thread, and they are talking about your issue. Never be about this. They are saying you would still need a SYE to add the front shaft to the rear

As far as I can tell and have read, the same length front shaft will work with an 8.25 and Dana44, it's the Dana35 (depending on lift height) that may require a longer shaft..

Worse comes to worse you could pull your front shaft and test fit it in the rear before going out and buying one.

I have the same year XJ (98) and will be installing a Hack n Tap and an XJ Dana44 along with 6.5" leafs soon myself.

I saw"hack n tap" on another thread, asked what that was. No one answered, what is it?

It's a method for doing a slip yoke elimination where you cut your existing t-case out put shaft "Hack", then "Tap" new threads for a bolt to secure the new fixed output yoke.

As far as I know it has to be a shaft from an automatic XJ to work in the rear.
