I bought a rear 44 carrier with a locker from a 1981 cj 7. Will this bolt into my XJ 44?

Aware that I need to re gear from stock.

From what I have read and researched about the 44 carriers with ring and pinions. Is that almost all of them are the same expect for like Rubicon and anything 05 and up which uses a different carrier and gears. But I'm probably wrong I can't remember where I found the info when I found 4.56 and a lockright at the jy out of a dodge front 44. But it said the gears carrier and lock right were all the same as long as it the 30 spline.

late model D44's (JK and so on) use a Thick cut gear set, and use the standard high ratio carrier (3.73V) there is some slight differences but with the correct bearings the JK carrier/gear sets can be used in earlier D44 housings fairly simply. Other wise as far as carriers are concerned, a D44 is a D44 ... just the gear cut is different (HP or LP).
