Default Dana 30 Non-disconnect problems

I searched around and all I found were issues pertaining to the D30 vacuum disconnect problems. My issue seems to be the same, but I have the later model D30 with out the vacuum motor.

When shifting out of 4WD, it feels like the axle dose not "disconnect" and seems bound up when taking corners. Knowing this model D30 axle is engaged full time (right?) how dose it actually engage and disengage from the transfer case? Not exactly sure what my problem is, but i know its not fully coming out of 4WD, and in order to get it fully disengaged i have to park throw it in reverse and slam on the gas for about 40-50 feet, then it frees up....

Anybody ever experience this and have a solution?

Thanks!

Not quite sure how you figured out it would free up by gassing it in reverse, but it doesn't sound like a problem with the diff. Sounds more t-case related, check out your shifter linkage.

Also on a non-disconnect axle, the axle is simply always connected. The t-case takes care of disconnecting it.

I know, its strange. But thats only way ive been able to get it to fully disengage. Ive tried adjusting the linkage, but may not have gotten it quite right. Do you have or can recommend a preferred method?

I use to shift into N and then shift it out of 4hi while rolling, you basically have to take pressure off the tcase to let if shift out of 4hi

^yeah, try shifting the transmission into neutral for t-case shifting to take some stress off the t-case gears.
