Default Dana 30 crown wheel to cover clearance

I have a RHD '96, and the adjustable track bar makes contact with the diff cover under certain conditions (there is a witness mark)

One solution would be to make a small ding in the cover, which would need to be about 1/4" deep, 1/2" wide, and 1" long

My question is what id the clearance between the cover and crown wheel outer more than 1/4" ??

if so, I may be able to make the adjustment in situ

unless I do something about this, the cover may eventually rub thru, even tho the contact patch is small

It appears the location of the bend in the aftermarket trackbar is not ideally located, that seems to be the cause of the issue

You can figure out the clearance between ring gear (crown wheel) and the cover by putting some clay in the cover and putting it on the housing so the ring gear makes a mark in the clay...then measure how thick it is at that mark.

Might give you an idea.....

GOOD idea.
awg, what brand of t/b you running? I've been researching them lately and it seems hitting the diff cover can be a problem when running zero lift or a small one.

As I am RHD in Australia, we often have to use nameless Ebay parts for handed items, its just simple poor design, move the bend 1" further along the bar, and it would be ok

You would need a lift over 4" for this not to hit

just fitted a new RH draglink today
