Peice together a RE kit using 3.5 full leafs and 4.5 coils.

Reason being RE leafs are TALL, (about a inch taller) thats what I ended up doing. Better then using a spacer up front.

After awhile you'll settle down to about 4'

i have 4.5. IRO coils and IRO upr/lwr c/a's. RC 3" packs with 1.5" shackle. all with 33s. i was on the wall like u are with 3" and 4.5"

i know me. and with tha said i went with the 4.5 because 3 just isn't tall enough for me.
i knew i was trimming fenders and that i wanted 33s.

I DD mine same amount of miles as you, and i need to re-gear. I have a tc drop kit and have no issues on road.

you need to decide what size tire you want and if its bigger than 31, are you willing to regear. if not go 3" and 31s.

decision time...lol

I'm really happy with how all my stuff has turned out on my XJ but it's been a ton of work and a lot of learning to get 3" of lift for pennies on the dollar. For simplicity's sake and future-proofing, I'd buy a 4.5" lift with full springs and be done with it. That's still not too tall, doesn't look bad on 31s with stock fenders intact, lets you trim out to 33s easily if you want to do gears down the road, and sets you up with the LCAs you could actually use with just 3" of lift.

The SYE is worth doing for many reasons. You don't have to use a t-case drop, you can eliminate all driveline vibes, it uses the same driveshaft as the front so you only need to carry one shaft for a trail spare. It should be considered part of any lift taller than 2". The Iron Rock Offroad hack and tap is a great, affordable option. I've got a couple years on mine and love it. Also plan on getting an adjustable track bar for any lift 3" or over. I sourced that from IRO as well.

I'm running 3" RC coils up front but only got 2¼" of lift out of them so I had to add a spacer to level things out. The upside is they ride great. I'm also running 2" RC shackles in the rear.

Once you get into the taller lifts and/or tend to beat on your rig harder, then you should look into higher quality components.
pretty much

I have the Rustys 3" coils and full leaf packs. Actually ended up right at 4" after it settled. It rides pretty well, flexes pretty well, and was a decent deal. I do not have anything negative to say about it.

That being said, you could piece a deal together from a vendor on here (serious offroad is my recommendation) and save some cash. Not to mention probably get some better components than the basic kits come with.

i have a 3" rough country with aals.

and it SUCKS. you feel every tiny bump in the road and the big ones will make you bounce. my rear has noticeably sagged. big waste of money, you will want to buy a new one eventually. do it right and do it once.

I just bought RE shocks but havent put them on yet.
if I could start from scratch I'd go with an old man emu kit.

Bastard pack anyone???

At least that's what I'm doing till I can afford a kit that will give me a min of around 6.5 inches

S-10 leaf pack
V8 ZJ springs with 2" spacers
'95 YJ brake lines

Hopefully that will net me 3-3.5 inches, but I haven't figured out shocks and steering components yet, I'm hoping to get some JK shocks but I have to do some more research, I should only need a pitman arm and track bar for 3-3.5 inches (at least that's what I've heard)

RE-READ YOUR POST. If you don't want to mess with an SYE, then yo uhave your answer. Keep it at 3" and don't worry about what others say about wishing they had gone bigger. You either want to mess with an SYE or not. That will dictate what you do.

Piece of advice. It costs me $20 per day to drive my jeep 56 miles round trip. I have 6.5" of lift, 35s and 4.88s. When I had 5.5" lift, 33s and 4.56s it cost about $15 per day. Be prepared.

I have an RC 3" kit, full leaf packs. The shackle angle is wrong but other than that, as a daily driver, it's a good kit for the money. I am convinced that most who complain about RC being dog crap either did not install it correctly or didn't buy all of the correct parts to do the job right. I drive mine every day and yes, it's a tad bumpy, but it's a jeep, not a Cadillac. Handles great, flexes enough for my needs, and didn't break the bank.

An RC 3" kit with full leafs is not a bad option. Just don't half *** the installation.

I bought and installed the Rough Country 4.5" short arm kit with add a leaf about six months ago on my 99 XJ.

The add a leaf is useless. Rear end is sagging badly. I recommend completely replacing rear leaf springs.

I do not have SYE, just transfer case drop. No vibrations now, but the rear is not lifted as much as it should be.

The front of the kit is ok. The lower arms are sturdy, springs are good, shocks aren't terrible. A little stiff but that's to be expected.

Overall it's not a bad kit considering how cheap it is. If you just do moderate wheeling and want an inexpensive way to fit 33s it will work fine.

However, I'm already replacing just about everything that came in the kit. If I had it to do over again I would have just bought a long arm kit from Iron Rock Offroad and been done with it.

If I had my time back, I'd go with another company other than Zone. Explanation Below. It has nothing to do with the customer service, and the products seem solid and well constructed, but the one issue i've had is below.

I'm running a 3'' Zone kit with full leafs. The leafs settled to about 1.25'' lower than the front coils. Zone replaced my leafs once already under warranty, and asked for a response from me after the new ones settled. They settled back to where the originals were, and I emailed Zone...that was 3 months ago with no reply yet.

I gave up and bought 1'' coil spacers and 2'' shackles. From the factory, xj's sit at 17.5'' in the front (from the middle of the hub to the bottom of the flares) and 17'' in the rear.

After just the 3'' Kit I was at 20.5 in the front, and 19.5'' in the rear. Since the new leafs, spacer and shackles i'm sitting at 21.5'' at all 4 corners. I think the leafs are a little short because the shackle angle is almost verticle.

The ride isnt too bad but a little on the rougher side, which I think could be the blame of the shackle angle. I'm not running a SYE yet, but one is in the works as i'm getting some vibe's around 50-60 KM/h.

Just 3'' Zone kit:
