D44 front. Limited steering angle. Fix? Help?

Ok so I have a D44 up front and my tires don't seam to turn as far as they should. :help:

First I did not build this Cherokee. I bought it the way it is. (May have gotten in over my head a bit)

I am some what new to the 4x4 thing. I have not done much work on them other then normal repairs. I come from road racing, and just got in to off roading recently.

Here are some pics of the Jeep as it sits now.

There is a lot wrong here. I know that. I have a long list of things that need to be foxed on this thing. That really strange steering setup is one of them.

Right now I am doing research on the steering system.
I have several parts picked out so far.

2002 S10 4x4 V6 steering box.
2001 WJ 4.7L power steering pump.
All new power steering lines with power steering cooler.

But that is as far as I have gotten.

I am not sure why the steering dose not turn as far as it should.

Maybe they used the wrong pitman arm? Maybe I need a longer one?

The front axle is a D44 from a 77 Chevy 3/4 ton. Its been converted to a drivers side drop and has Rubicon CM shafts in it. It was fully rebuilt with 4:11 gears about 8k miles ago.

Yes that is the stock track bar. No I have no idea why the PO did that. Yes I will be replacing it and redoing the brackets for it.

Shockingly it drives great! Tho it is done with DD duty. I bought to us as trail rig. I plan to keep it street legal. But it will spend 90% of its time off road from this point on.

Thanks for the help guys!

Looks like the tie-rod is hitting the diff. I'd suggest getting the trackbar mounted on top og the steering arm.

Basically re-doing the steering.

High-steer arms are an option, but you'll need to cut off the existing coil buckets and move them aft so the coils are not the next interference point.

And its probably a jeep wagoneer dana 44 not a chevy one.The jeep wagoneer dana 44 is close to xj width and driver side drop 1980-91 and a easy swap with a little welding. If it was a chevy dana 44 it would have a cast in spring perch on the left side of the center which it don't.And i believe 77 would have been a 10 bolt not a 44 gm dropped the 44 for the 10 bolt.

It is a Chevy axle.
The PO was welder by trade and converted it to driver side drop. He also removed all the stock Chevy brackets and made his own.
Also GM dropped the D44 In the half ton on 77 but used it in the 3/4 ton that year. 78 they stopped using the D44 completely.
