Default Cut and fold just rear fenders?

Has anybody just done the rears? I just did mine today and it looks like they are the same size as the fronts now so I might leave the fronts be. Idk if im just seeing them wrong but they look pretty slick now. Also its too cold out and rainy for me to paint the bare metal. How quick does rust form? I cant paint untill sunday which is in three days so im wondering if i should just cover the metal with painters tape? Any suggestions appreciated.

If it means anything, I cut just the rear on mine. And I did the cut and fold and just left it. That was a year ago. I'm eventually going to grind the folds out a little to kinda shape where I cut. I think that will remove what little rust is there now. Don't put tape on it please. IMO.

Just let it rust for 3 days. You need to do a little sanding to make the paint stick right anyway. Front and rear fenders are the same only reversed (shape wise).
