Homebrew. Way cheaper and they'll function as long as you do it correctly. Do a search for cowl snorkel and you'll find a bunch of info. Here's good place to look.

why would you do a cowl snorkel and run the stock crappy airbox? makes no sense. THOR makes a decent unit and bypasses the crappy airbox unlike alot of people here do

That's exactly why I'm going to get the THOR kit.

still cheaper than a k&n kit though!! If the filter is still in the engine compartment....i don't care how many walls you put around it...its still not a true cold air intake.

Purpose of a snorkel is to raise the intake point. If you want a CAI, buy a honda

A snorkel is a cold air intake, especially the thor kit. Putting the filter in the cowl does make it a snorkel too...but a cold air intake none the less.

lol honda is junk, I have a 300zx which came from the factory with a cai

Looks good! Just get some sound dampening material from a radio shop and slap it in the cowl. I think that stuff has a sticky back cuz it goes in door panels and whatnot

been thinking about this but one thing that i was wondering about is rain water. how do you keep the filter from sogging up every time it rains. my buddy has a little black plastic cover over is cowl on his tj and thinking something like this might do the trick.
