Default Cooling problem?

240k miles. New water pump, new 180 deg thermostat, new fan clutch and new radiator and still in very hot(100+) slow traffic conditions and towing on steep grades she still gets hot so heres what I did and it works. To me, louvers for the hood dont look good. 2"x4"x 1.5" block and longer bolts. Hood works as stock. No adjustments needed.

Is this a joke?

Or has the XJ aged and degraded to the point where bolting on random scraps of wood is acceptable for repairs and modifications?

Some seem to think so..
However, I imagine a fire hazard with lumber located in engine bay.

Default But seriously

I have done this modification before using thick washers as spacers. Can also use steel bar stock, cut it to length and drill bolt holes. Either would be more secure than lumber. It seemed to me that 1/2" gap was adequate.

Relax. We're all well aware you can use spacers on your hood to let hot air escape, it's just that wood is not the optimal material to use.

Calling us jerks, dopes and telling us to **** ourselves probably isn't the best way to ingratiate yourself with the community. We're all here to learn and have a little fun with each other.
