converting already made bumper into swing out tire carrier.
So i wanna build a basic swing out tire carrier
similar to this http://jeep-forums.4wd.com/showthrea...y-tire-carrier
using these parts http://www.atozfabrication.com/store...lders-Kit.html
my question is how do i go about making the hole for the hinge?
will the hinge come with instructions? just drill out to certain size put in insert and weld in place and then the hinge can go in and out of that if i want to remove it when not in use? or how does that work.
waiting on your reply
thanks guys

oh and i was going to try and fab it so the tire sorta fit in the little space in my rear bumper if you see what im talking about.
like take the mounting spot in the one im basing off of and move it down a few inches so the bottom of the tire can go below the carrier and into that little "valley" on the bumper
that way i can keep my rear view in tact as much as possible.

btw what kind of latch are you using??
and it looks like maybe a different hinge to??
looking for options.
oh and something i just thought about.
it the tickness of my bumper going to matter?
not thickness of steel but thickness from top to bottom ( the distance the hinge has to go thru. )

*****. so i just did some measuring and found out my bumper is 5.5 in deep.
and this heavy duty hinge setup is only made for 5" thick..
my bumper does taper could i do it there? probly not cuz the hinge is made to weld to two flat sides huh..
maybe i could get fancy and have a piece made that is the right angle with a 1.5 in hole so i can put the hinge in the tapered section?
any ideas?
or maybe a link to a hinge that will work.
workin with a 33 in tire.
and a budget of around 250$ for everything and metal and paint is already 125.
