Default Control arms and swaybar

I've got a 2000 jeep Cherokee sport and I'm putting together a lift kit. A 3 inch spring In the front with 2 inch adjustable shackles in the back with a 1 inch add a leaf. I'm putting on 33inch super swampers.

I'm trying to figure out if I'm going to need to get different control arms and a swaybar. Bottom line what do I need to be operational.

Well lets scratch that list off and start over for what you want to do.

First choose a "Quality" full leaf/coil budget lift for 3" made in NA not China. Rustys fills that bill quite well with his springs great on/off road it comes with shocks and all hardware for the rear end you have cost $438. I used this to increase my lift to 4 1/2" last year as the base kit and does very well for that. The single most important things in a basic lift is the leafs and coils.

With that kit you will need a transfer case drop kit (usually), adj. track bar, sway bar disconnects. For that size of tire you will need a 15x8" wheel with 3.75" of BS (A must have!) and the fenders need to be trimmed. You will also need bump stops and remove the rear sway bar.

I ran this exact setup for several years using stock U/LCA's with that wheel and tire size, when I increased to 4 1/2" I changed to Adj. HD U/LCA's with a Dbl. Shear Track Bar.

For steering use at least a set of tie rods from a mid-90's V-8 GC they are many times stronger than the stock XJ ones and a direct bolt-in under a $100 for the Moog's.

For the brake lines you can just lower the mounts and the stock one will work till you have money to buy stainless ones.

Here is an older photo of mine with the Rustys 3" lift and Cragar 15x8" wheels with 3.75" of BS and 33x12:50x15" tires.

Don't go cheap. You WILL end up spending more in the long run. A lot more hassle is involved with going cheap too.

The term "need" is all relative. I've seen people with stock control arms and 6in of lift. I have 3in of lift and run without any sway bars but i also have adjustable control arms. Risky yes but it's a weekend play toy. I mean let's be honest, for 99 cents why not just super size your meal?
