Default Complete TJ drivetrain swap into a Cherokee?

I have a 2000 Cherokee with an engine that's about to go, and I found a cheap 2002 TJ drivetrain (4.0, NV3550 & NP231) that I want to swap into it.
Has anyone ever done this before? I know that I'll have to use different motor mounts cause of the clean sheet design but will everything else line up where it should be such as brackets, tranny mount and how the wiring harness hooks up?

Just installed this in my 89 theres two sets of crossmember mount holes in your frame you may have to use transfer case drop because different clocking between tj and xj bolt pattern on trannys . Use your intake and accessories might be easiest .Is tj coil packs ?

You didn't mention the axles but....the TJ has a LP 30. I wouldn't use it unless it was re-geared & you planned to match the rear to it.

Thanks for the input. Did you use the whole drivetrain or just the tranny? I can't use a t-case drop anymore cause I have an IRO long arm. I just looked at the engine and the accessories are different, but they will work if I switch to electric fans. I checked on the axles and it had 3.73 which should be close enough to my 3.55s, I don't know about driveshaft and transmission lengths though.

You can install the axle but DO NOT use the 4WD unless you want the T-case to literally explode. Seriously. Need to re-gear so they match.

Now,4.09 & 4.11 are close enough not to worry about.

Sorry I miss understood what you were saying, the TJ had a match set of 3.73s and my Cherokee has a LP 30 with a match set of 3.55s. I'm planning on using the axles that are in my Cherokee now.

I swapped in tranny and transfercase only. Your going to have to redrill tj transfercase bolt pattern. if you cannot drop crossmember. Why not just swap you acc onto tj block. Gearing that different going to be a issue id stay with matching 355s driveshafts from xj. Is xj 5speed now ?

could I use my NP231 transfer case to avoid having to drill new holes or would I be better of getting an IRO Transfer Case Clocking Drill Jig and just redoing them? Some ACC will line up but they changed how everything bolts up on the 2000 & up TJs. I miss understood what he was saying about the gearing I'm sticking with my matching 3.55s. The AW4 that I have in mine now is a four-speed. Did you have any problems with the driveshaft lengths?

Buy a clocking ring, not their jig.

Just hammer the floorboard. The clocked position of the tcase is a bonus. No reason to re clock it

And the mounting studs on the tcases are the same between xj and tj. The transmission side is what determines the position

You shafts will work finding pedal sets different, ecm ,drilling fire wall , wiring harness for standard shift. a lot more than just throwing it ins involved when going from auto to stick.

Yea I figured it would be a bit of a project. I found a donor jeep to get the pedals from and the engine comes with a complete wiring harness and ecm, its just the matter of making it all work.
