Cluster Swap SpeedO issue
I just did a cluster swap from a stock 94 with no tac or other gauges other the a speedO and a fuel to full gauge setup. all gauges work but not my SpeedO.
Im going to try cleaning the contact points on the back of the cluster in the morning but thought I might ask in here to see if Im missing something. Any advise would help.

If the tac works the Speedo will work (as far as contact cleaning goes. They're right next to eachother on the left plug, you would get a CHECK GUAGES light or the NO BUS error on the odometer if it was dirty contacts on the rear of the cluster.
Look at the Speedo screws on the back of the cluster, be sure its in there good, then put your old cluster back in. if its Speedo work...then its ur newer cluster that's the problem. Replace again. If the old one doesn't work...trace wiring. Check fuses.

Im not sure the year the new one came from. I compared it to my old one and all is the same except this one has a trip meter. and the three contact screws are the same. I even checked the connector and all the feeds go to the same places as my old one.
I spent the whole day messing with it. cleaned it, contact grease, I even went and took my old speedo and put it in the new housing (old one does not work in new housing.) Have yet to put the old one back together and try it. but after I warm up Ill do that.
Sorry my XJ is a 94

I found the issue.
Im not proud but Im a dumb ****. I was checking my tcase fluid level and the bolt was really tight. So I unplugged the speed sensor wire for fear I would break it. after I was done my stupidity kicked in and I forgot to plug it back in.
Problem solved.
