Default Clearance issues with k&n intake and throttle spacer. Suggestions???

I just tried installing a rough country throttle body spacer on my jeep. I already have a k&n intake. The top of the intake pipe hits the hood when I try to close it. Any suggestions? Hood scoop maybe? Please help

X4. Get rid of the spacer. Those had an effect on carburetors and throttle body injection systems. They have no effect on our fuel system.

A throttle body spacer on a XJ is a complete waste of hard earned money. Spacers work on throttle body injected vehicle and the XJ is multiport injected, MPI. Meaning instead of the fuel spraying directly into the throttle body it is sprayed through multiple injectors directly into the intake manifold. A spacer helps a TBI vehicles by increasing the amount of air inside the intake manifold that the fuel has to mix with, more air = more power. Since the injectors on a XJ are located right at the ports for the head, a spacer will not increase airflow or give any H-power benefits.

No don't rid of it, keep it for a trout line anchor works well for that and keeps the line down.

Other than that not much use, a bored TB is much better idea and does work.

Keep it, you spent good money on it, no need to give up on a bad idea.
Just get out the drill and jig saw them cut a hole in the hood. maybe add on a blower scoop, that would be cool. Theres also the option of beating up into the hood to give some clearance.

Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

Modify, modify, modify.

Use the factory intake tube, but with the K&N filter/box on the end. Or use the elbow/intake manifold connector from the factory tube and attach it to the K&N unit. Or shave the K&N tube shorter so it sits down lower over the intake. Or ese a heat gun and soften up the plastic, then close the hood - it'll clearance itself. Or get a 90deg. PVC pipe elbow and use it.

Or just do what everyone else said and get rid of the TB spacer.
