Newbie here. I checked the search engine but couldn't find answer so I'll go ahead and ask here:

Will a 1996 liftgate fit on a 1997 & up chassis without modification? I know the liftgates have a different appearance and I believe the tail lights are part of the 1996 liftgate and are separate from the 1997 liftgate. My newbie assumption is that if they are a direct bolt-on, the tail lights would have to be removed from the '97 before the '96 gate could be installed. Any info is much appreciated. Thanks.
