Old thread I know, but I bought and mounted up a cobra CB last night, I havent wired it yet...cant find an antenna...any ideas where to get a cheap one? I dont really have to have a whip as I dont have a mounting bracket and dont want to spend much money on it. I do still plan on buying the PA speaker if I can find one thats just a direct plugin.

This is what I used for a mount. I put it just in front of the fuel filler door.

I bought an antenna at Radio Shack, but you could get a Firestick from the same site.

Thats not a bad mount but im either thinking a cheapo one near the taillights or one of the cheap ones that just magnet to the hood. How much does like a 3 foot whip cost? 15-20 bucks?

I rarely hit over 60 and I plan on going with a fiberglass whip eventually, just not wanting to spend 30 on a whip and 30 on a mount plus the cable. I could buy a cheap 15 dollar magnet antenna with cable already on it and be fine for a while.
Two things I feel I should add:
1 - You can install a CB without an antenna and only use it as a PA as long as you NEVER switch the CB/PA switch back to CB and key the mic.
2 - The other benefit that no one has mentioned to the PA speaker is that in most radios, the receive audio from the CB goes through the PA speaker when you have it in PA mode, so if you are outside of the jeep and someone says something on the radio, you can hear it and get back to them.
