What exactly would you be putting up there?? It would have to be pretty tight netting for anything heavier than a few lbs or it will bounce around and sag down

I have always wanted to weld up a small rack and bolt it to the roof (inside the trunk area), because I literally never pile stuff all the way to the roof. Problem is the speaker bar is like, right in the way

Tarps & blankets would be too heavy and would sag. And driving would let them bounce around, stretch the netting, and sag even more.

Only way I can see using that area for storage safely would be like waffles said, make up a basket type cage and mount it, then store the stuff in there.

And unless the cage drops down into the drivers field of view, the area for use would be very small too....hardly worth the effort I'd think.

Mine would be to store recovery equipment.

But every time I use said equipment it gets super muddy - plus it would rattle around a ton. But you could probably squeeze some jackets, cold weather gear, and lighter weight stuff up there with a basket.

Google around and see if you want to attempt it - looks like people have before;

My son bout a roll of the same material that is used for seat belts from amazon, he's going to fabricate a customer net to do this very thing (seamstress comes from his mom's side). I would expect a little flex with the Seat Belt material; but not much.
