Default Carbureting a 2001 jeep Cherokee sport

Ok guys. I'm needing some help on what to do to convert my 2001 Jeep Cherokee sport to a carbureted distributed motor I'm wondering what type of distributor I would need firing system and if the original transmission Will still operate without the main computer sending any signals. And just so you know why am doing this the computer went out and I can't get an aftermarket computer to work and all the little jeep gremlins that they have with the electrical system have all happened at one time so I want to turn it to a distributor carbureted motor.

Have you tried a different OEM computer and not aftermarket? Most of the wiring electrical gremlins are do to bad grounds needing a cleaning.

I have tried a remained and one from a junkyard that was guaranteed to work from the same year and they wont power up but the original one will power up but won't communicate with anything any ideas on that because I would like to get it running again haven't been able to drive is in a year since I replaced the head gasket

Someone chime in here and help me remember. Don't we have a really good vendor on here for remaned ECUs? They seemed really helpful to the members here but I don't remember their name.

I don't have the codes right off hand but I can get them but it started with the transmission solenoid then another code showed up for ASD code for either pcm crank sensor or asd relay. I changed the asd relay crank sensor but the original one was found to be good so I put it back on then tried the pcm but couldn't get another pcm to power on. Then for throttle positioning sensor and the last code was for the air intake temp sensor. Then the dash gauges quit responding now the odometer says no bus. Had fuel pressure but now I don't and a oxygen sensor relay is now clicking and I tried switching the relay out with another one and it keeps clicking.

Did the CPS or wiring get damaged when you replaced the head gasket?

Is the harness ground wire firmly attached to the passenger side of the engine block?

As all have given you great advice, keep this in mind, it is not easy or cheap to convert the ChryCo XJ's over to carb as it is a Renix era XJ.

So for now, let's start with the tips given and work from there. But whenever you report back, please try to be as descriptive as possible so we may better help you.
