What do you guys think aut the Goodyear wranglers?

Xj88 12-28-2012 02:35 PM

The walmart ones? They have a thin sidewall. Not a bad tire though. I wouldn't run one on a rig that would see the trails.

Are you talking about MTRs or what?

Walmart sells Goodyear wrangler authorities..run about 160 bucks for a 31..they have thin sidewalls, and run about an inch small.

MTR's (Kevlars)..a bit more expensive..never ran them but have heard a LOT of good things about them.

I'm very impressed with my 33x12.5x15 Duratracs. Very smooth and quite on road. Plus they got a 4 out of 4 tire review for snow and ice. Perfect for trucking up the mountain to ride some pow pow!

MTZ El dorados

I have run a few tires. Only two so far have inpressed me - both of which. I wouldn't hesitate to buy again.

I daily drive 45 miles round trip to work each day, and wheel a mixture of rocks and light mud.

Firestone Destination M/Ts - great treadwear (65k), excellent mud traction and clearing, awesome in snow, tread didn't chunk from rocks. Also very good in rain on pavement. Good road manners.

Mickey Thompson MTZs - current tire, wearing very well, wouldn't use them for mud bogs but they perform well in the slop. Better suited as a rock or desert tire IMO - they do very well on the rocks. Fantastic road manners and in the rain due to heavy siping. Haven't tested in snow yet but I expect them to do well.

thats super close. they may rub. its not a tire issue, its the fact that the wheels arent wide enough/ have too much backspacing for the width of the new tire.

That is about like mine. Never had a problem and I don't run leaf straps.

Looking at it again, that is closer than mine. But when I had the 32 11.50's on it was the same. Still never had a problem.

I'm looking on buying some tires for my rig. Looking at 31's. BFG KM2. anyone ever ride these before? Are they good? Pros? cons? any other tire y'all recommend on taking a look at? Max $ I wanna spend on 4 is 800+ no more than 9.

Thanks for any help!

Hi.
I've been using bfg km2 MTs in 31x10.50-15 since 2009 and although they're decent in the traction department (I much prefer the older KMs-i.e., "dog-bone" pattern), the km2s wear out REALLY fast IMO. I saw a post where the guy said he had to rotate them once a month!

My BFG KO have never let me down as far as punctures and rock goes, but if you're into mudding you'd be wasting your money

I love my km2's. They look awesome sitting in my kitchen.

Second on the Duratracs. I just moved from KM2s, which are great AT tires.

The Duratracs seem to me more precise, more aggressive and the ride is somehow better than the KM2s... Price is good as well...
