Default Building a 2" Lift...Questions...

So I got my XJ back in July and I really want to lift it but I can't afford anything expensive right now. I figured I could give it a 2" lift and keep stock tires to save some cash but still give it a more agressive look. Also I tow a utility trailer with dirtbikes and do some mild weekend offroading so the extra lift would be nice to have. My problem with a kit is that at most they all come with shackles or aal and my leafs are completely shot, aka they are actually inverted so i want to just completely replace them. I like to do projects the right way the first time so I don't have to go back and redo my work. I pieced together these parts so far. Any thoughts?

I got my springs through Quadratec. I decided to go with the stock springs that were rated for heavy duty. Those springs were made by Crown. I did some research, and could not find any complaints from anyone who got them. Part # is 56010.11 . I got my bushings through Summit Racing. I got the Urethane ones. No complaints so far. Just a FYI, because your springs are shot now, when you put your new ones on, it may lift the back even more. My jeep rides a little stiff with the heavy duty springs, but it is not objectionable.

Im also considering this combination. just wondering if i really need to replace shocks and if i need to extend my brake lines

keeping in mind this is mostly a daily driver, towing my utility trailer w/ 2 dirtbikes, and every other weekend minor offroading. i only need it to really last me till summer 2013 at the latest!

Thats about how they looked when I did mine. Been 2 years and it's about time to replace the springs.

The heavy duty springs did give some additional lift. The bushings I got are a 2 piece style.

It really depends on how aggressive off roading that you plan on doing. You can get away with not replacing your shocks if you are not going to be crazy wild. That also goes for the brake lines. If you need maximum articulation, you will want to extend the brake lines and get new longer travel shocks.

Rescuedjk- I do not wish to be disrespectful to you at all, but unless they are using the lift for show purposes only, lift blocks are not recommended for the rear of Cherokees.

Blocks are for mud. Plus those leafs are beyond salvageable! I know, mine look the same...

You wanna go really cheap but highly labor intensive. Junkyard lift. I have a list on my computer for a lot of parts in the JY that will give you lift on a stock XJ.

I'm going with front coils out of a V8 Thunderbird, and an S-10 bastard pack. 4 new shocks (somethings gotta be shiny) Ford Bronco II brake lines. (OEM new, don't shortcut when it comes to brakes)

If your interested, I'll post a link to the list.

Thanks for all the info guys. Sorry I don't wanna do a block. Not my style. I ended up getting the ome 2" leads and 4 skyjacker shocks for lifts 0-3". I'm getting front 2" spacers for free off a friend. Figured the new leads was the easiest way to go being that I'm at college and it's cold and snowy out and the last thing I feel like doing is pulling parts from the local junkyard. Haha. I even have a fellow jeeper to help me do the install
