Oh nice! I'll have to go to my local yards. The price of them varies I take it from yard to yard? And since I'm also 3'' now, do you think I need to upgrade any lines or anything? I might do shocks, even if I don't have to.

Thanks

Well, if you are on stock brake lines, you might want to relocate the brake line brackets for extra slack or install longer brake lines. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that jeep yj brake lines are 3-4" longer than ours. And you will probably need atleast new rear shocks. Maybe front too. What lift do you have? Some companies sell the same 3" front shocks as their 4.5" front shock..... EDIT: the yj brake lines ARE 3-4" longer.

It's hard to say what lift I'm on, since the seller said he was at 4.5, but it doesn't look like it, and I've been told otherwise. It looks like stock coils with a 1.5'' spacer in the front, and stock shackles with a bastard pack in back. I think it's around 3''. Should I look for a set of YJ lines too? Do I need the mount too?

Thanks

Not sure about the mount. But if there is a yj. Then you might see how much it is for the lines. I'm not 100% sure if it's a direct swap. I just read that in the budget build junkyard thread. Check it out. There are some other vehicles that you can take the brake lines off of and use on an xj.

So over the weekend, I went out wheeling with my front sway off. Had a lot of fun. But I was rubbing like no other lol. I want to boost myself up a little, in addition to more trimming. Instead of buying a 2'' spacer for the front, I thought why not buy a 4.5-5'' coil, and eliminate the spacer. All I'd be doing in the back is replacing my stock shackles with 2'' shackles. What size coil do I need to keep me even? And where's the best place to buy just coils? I checked IRO, but they have a 4.5'' and 6''.

Here's a pic of the damage btw.

Seriousoffroad has awesome prices on RE coils and you might want to think about extending your bumpstops also. (depends on what coils you get so wait until then) You could use hockey pucks to insert inside your coils on the bottom. Or you could just keep the setup you have and just bumpstop. Pm me next time you go wheeling. Im about 45 min from Cliffs. Looks like you could also trim your front fenders way more, especially now that they are ruined anyways. My fenders used to be trimmed all the way up to the horizontal body line, guarantees no rubbing, on the fenders at least.

So something like this for the front? http://www.seriousoffroadproducts.co...ducts_id=87034

Then all I'd need is a 2'' shackle for the rear? I feel like that'd be uneven.. Would I need to add a leaf or get a new leaf pack? Oh, and that's $80 for both coils for the front?

Thanks

5.5 is hella high for 33s. I would go with 4.5 spring and a shackle and you should be ok. That shackle has two holes , one for 1.5in and one for 2in. At 5.5 you will need way more parts to make the jeep drive well.

Oh ok, cool. Do you think I'll notice a difference at 4.5? I think I'm around 4 or so now.. I don't know if my coils are stock or not, but there's like a 1.75 spacer on it now. I also don't know where my bastard pack is from. Previous owner said I have a Rubi Express hybrid and bastard pack.

You have to measure from the top of the axle tube to the frame rail to accurately determine your lift. I dont remembr the stock measurement but you could find it here somwhere. To me it looks very well like you might be at about 4 inches. If you have a 1.75in spacer then you coils are probably 2 or 3in coils, they cannot b stock, if they were that would mean you are at 1.75inches. I am at exactly 4.5 with 33s. Check out the pics in my album for reference. Here is one on level ground. Im sure the scenery looks familiar, hehehe

6.75in up front
6in rear
from top of axle tube vertically to framerail.

So front coils wuld be that figure minus 1.75in spacer. I think they will be 2in coils unless 3.5ers that sagged overtime.

Quote:

Checking Front Ride Height

Measure front ride height with the vehicle unloaded (no luggage or passengers) and with the fuel tank full.

Place the vehicle on a level surface and measure the veryical distance between the top of the axle tube (A) and the underside of the frame sill (B). Refer to Figure 1 for driver's side measurement and Figure 2 for passenger side measurement. Be sure each measurement is taken from the top of the tube and not from the axle or shift motor housings.

With Standard or Soft Ride Suspension, vertical distance should be 17 cm (6-3/4 inches) plus or minus 13 mm (1/2 inch). With Heavy Duty Suspension, vertical distance should be 20 cm (7-3/4 inches) plus or minus 13 mm (1/2 inch).

Checking Rear Ride Height

Measure rear ride height with the vehicle unloaded (no luggage or passengers) and with the fuel tank full.

Place the vehicle on a level surface and measure the vertical distance between the top of the axle tube (C) and the underside of the frame sill (D) inboard of the jounce bumper (E).

With Standard or Soft Ride Suspension, vertical distance should be 15 cm (6 inches) plus or minus 13 mm (1/2 inch). With Heavy Duty Suspension, vertical distance should be 18 cm (7 inches) plus or minus 13 mm (1/2 inch).

I bought a TJ & it had stacked spacers on the front.Did I care? No.Did it do well offroad?Yes.I NEVER had a issue with them & I don't know where people get off bashing the idea.
Please give me a rational reason NOT to use stacked spacers.
