Bronco coils on xj write up
After searching and more searching I decided this write up is needed, first I found out the biggest coils you can get from a bronco are from a 78 or 79 with the 6.6 motor I got mine new from jc Whitney for 100.98 shipped (I ordered the heavy duty coils) they showed up at my door in 2 days! More than a week early
Now these coils are beefy to say the least they weigh 35 pounds each and are so thick I couldn't use the safety pins on my strut compressors
Now people say you need longer drive shafts longer break lines longer lcas well they lie, I not only put these coils on without any of that I put these coils on with 3 inch spacers and still don't have any of that ( all though those are nice things to have) I have death wobble at 45 im doing a t case soon hopefully it will help
These coils ride very nice and firm people say they are hard riding, I like them they feel nice sure you can feel bumps but they make turning feel so much more safe ( im not running sway bars) I like how little body roll I now have
Its a fairly easy swap to do I compressed my stock coils and unbolted my lca then removed front shocks next I compressed the bronco coils. I don't have pics of it but the strut compressors are Not meant to play with coils that big I bent the poor things while compressing them ( you need to compress the coils a good deal and I would highly recommend finding a safe way to do it) then just swap em out and put everything back together

they ONLY cost you $101??? a better option would have been rusty's 4.5" coils for $129...
beefy? no they are over kill... and not in a good way, they will be great if you plan to add around 500-750lbs to the front end... but now all you have is a tall rig that will not flex at all
longer driveshaft... maybe...
longer BRAKE lines... are you kidding me... you don;t need those, just ask Darwin... at only 3" to 4" of lift you can get away with just mounting the brake hard lines lower... but from what I am reading here, I fear that you have not even done that...at 7" of total lift your BRAKE lines are almost ready to rip off just standing still... my god if you happen to flex the suspension, which is not possible with those dump truck springs, you will rip them clean off... then you will end up killing yourself or some one else... or if you get REALLY lucky, you will just end up stuck on the trail with no BRAKES
longer control arms... well look at your front tire... notice how it is pulled REALLY far backward? look at your axle, notice the way that your pinion angle SUCKS now... further more, look at the lower control arm mounts on the axle... notice how the control arms are hitting the top of the shock mount even with the Jeep just sitting there...
yeah they sure are nice to have... they just might save your life and another person's life around you
another question... what did you do about your trackbar? please don't tell me your are running 7" of lift on a stock track bar
the stuff that you say we are LYING to you about needing... well if you had that stuff your rig would not wobble itself apart... further more NO a tcase drop or SYE WILL NOT HELP YOUR DEATH WOBBLE...
Do it right, do it safe, or keep in in your driveway... you are going to hurt yourself or someone else... it's JUST NOT WORTH IT
BTW, this is not OEM tech... and there is a reason (well several reasons) that there is not a write up on this... it's cause for only few more bucks you can purchase a way better suited set of springs...

It flexes fine ill post pics of it tonight and my brake lines have lots of slack in them idk if the 87 has longer ones or the previous owner put them on you talk about these coils like they are horrible there not for those of us who run plows the thick coils are essential and don't give me crap about it being unsafe there are guys who welded xj coils together on this forum

my first jeep came with bronco/f150 coils. guess where those coils ended up?
that's right, in the scrap yard.
it really was a harsh ride and flexed like a school bus.
not worth it, but to each their own.

I can tell you this... with stock control arms there will not be much flex... maybe 1-2" down at best...
