I lost mine once and hit the guard rail at 65. Ball pulled right out of the socket on the frame side.

a TRE that is able to pull the ball out of the socket would have been pretty well worn out well before that happens

Not suprising.. Rusty's has had this happen before. I was also suprised to see that RE only using 1/8 wall on their hd trac bars. I found this out after I decided to use the threaded portion of thier trac bar. The also use only 1/8 on the control arms

That is pretty crazy stuff ,really looks like poor craftsmanship. With that being said Im glad you are ok, and did not get hurt.

the threaded end doesn't even show even a little weld on it, as though the 2 pieces weren't even connected. that is some scary ****znit.

I love how everyone is up in arms and bad mouthing a company because a product that is a wear part broke after 3 years of use? Really? It could have been a factory piece and broke just the same. Parts break thats just the nature of our hobby, nobody got hurt thats all that matters.

the welds are not a wear item, the bushing and the TRE are. The failures on the Rustys bar, in all locations that I have seen them, are not wear parts. Even the TRE failures arent on the wear location, theyre on the threaded section. The bushing failure wasnt the bushing that failed, it was the actual steel sleeve. Threaded sections and welds are NOT wear items. By he logic you included in that statement, your calipers should be ok to fail because they are wear items (pads on them are), or your tranny crossmember could break and fall out while driving because its a wear item (the tranny mount). That doesnt make any sense.

Not to mention, the parts that truly ARE wear items will not cause you to have no control over your vehicle when they go bad. When the bushing is worn out, the bar will still more or less be held in place by the sleeve, and the TRE unless extremely worn out will not just separate while driving down the road...

Whoever is welding in his shop needs to stop. That's a superficial weld if I ever saw one. The good thing is how quickly they took care of the situation. But I still would be wondering if the same person welded all of them. Yikes.

This is the first pic of a broken weld I have seen, but I have heard of others.

Mine was a WP warrior adjustable track bar. It's not a Rustys part but I was only saying that I know the feeling of having one fail at speed. And the bar was only 2 months old when the ball joint pulled out of it. Still sucks in any situation.

REALLY? Wow.... I think you better look at the pic again... If this looks like normal wear and tear to you... maybe you should keep your vehicles off public roads for the safety of others...

I just recently bought an already lifted XJ with 6.5" Rusty's long arm suspension. After reading this and seeing the pictures I am extremely afraid to drive it. Really sucks because I just changed the tie rod ends and had it alligned this past week! Can I use another manufacturer's track bar with this lift? It would definitely make me feel a lot safer anyway. Glad nobody got hurt or killed, especially whoever was driving the TJ in the link attached to this thread.
